100% agree. While I do enjoy Dragon Arena, Costume Brawling is by far my favorite mini-game

I don't think the idea of DA around permanently is that attractive of an idea. That said, I would like a frequent implementations of DA or see it around for longer when it is around. I think that if it were made permanent, after the initial hype it would quickly become abandoned.

Dragon Arenas are a festival arena.
And so, they should stay as festival, only.
Same goes with all the other festival PvP areas.
Now, if you wanted a 'copycat' of those, and created a way to pay Zcoins to get tickets and enter those, so you could get Gamer points during all year, I won't disagree.
As long as you make differences, and close the 'non-festival' ones during festivals.
In my example, you'll get one different 'minigame' each week, as long as there is no festival event.
So, if this week we have wintersday, we get the Snowball arena, and the Zaishen Minigames are closed.
When the festival ends, the Zaishen minigames open again, and you can go to the outpost (I would use the waterfall one, the same used for Costume Brawling) pay Zcoins for tickets, and play the minigames to get Gamer points as long as the tickets last.
Which minigames could be there?
A cycle of several minigames.
- Norn Mud fight: A copy of the wintersday arena, but mud-themed instead snow themed, and using an non-snowy Norn theme instead a souther shiverpeaks one. To keep the shiverpeaks special.
- Charr Devourer races. A copy of the rollerbeetle races, but with a green charllands theme, with devourers instead of rollerbeetles.
- Asura dodgeball. Same as dragon arena, but with golems.
- Costume Dwarven brawling. Two teams of 4 enter, and fight with dwarf models instead the usual costumes.
They would cycle, and as long as there is no festival, one is open during all week, to anyone paying tickets.
Now, when a festival comes, the minigame arena would close, because players should be in the festival minigames instead.

There are novelties still left in the game?
Shock.

In addition to dragon arenas i suggest a few improvements/additions to the minigame:
- Make start timer 30 seconds
- Make Dragon Arena ATs
- Non Random Dragon Arena (this and above could be the same thing)
- A skill to emulate aftershock
and /signed for all suggestions above this post

Its only available during canthan new year and dragon festival becuz it ws designed as such. It is not meant to be played year round.
Though you'll never realize this, the main reason why you and so many other gamers enjoy it is becuz its only available for a short time. If it was a common, everyday thing, it'd be a different story. You'd get bored of it eventually. Sure, you'd still do it, but only for faction, like you do with RA. Its fun every-now-and-then, but you're mainly there for faction to use on z-keys, skills, etc.

Make a team of 8 eles/monks. Give em shock, stoning, windborn speed, and 5 different res skills. Put sup runes on till they have about 100hp, take off your weapons, and find another team of 8 and go for it.
There ya go, dragon arena for dummies.

If they made DA a permanent, constantly available part of GW, then the tradition of someone making a suggestion here in Sardelac that DA be made a permanent feature of GW during, or shortly after, the Dragon Festival would come to an end.
And, if it were made a normal part of the game, there will be lots of people screaming "Not fair! You gotta make snowball area/costume brawl/rollerbeetle racing/ etc. permanent too!

It's easier to play in these arenas at dead hours, ( contrary to GvG's and HA , empty for hours , RA with syncers , no monks , etc... , AB empty ) , but however , they would need to make Zquest or AT's there , else it would get empty after a few weeks.
But , i do think costume brawl would be a very good idea , as replacement of codex complete useless arena ( If you look at codex description on wiki , that's exactly what costume brawl is and what actual codex arena isn't .. )
However , to make a suggestion realized here , you need to have 100 pages , like the " bot thread " , so i doubt we'll really get those arenas .

Has been suggested before. People would probably flock to it in the beginning but it would have a very small playerbase at the end. Sort of like Codex (was Codex ever popular?).
